Apple Find My Smart Tag Setup Guide
Apple Find My Smart Tag Setup Guide
IMPORTANT — SELECT “ADD OTHER ITEM”
Do not select “Add AirTag”.
Oscanna smart tags are compatible with Apple Find My, but they are not Apple AirTags.
Your iPhone will not detect the tag if you choose “Add AirTag”.
You must use:
Find My → Items → + → Add Other Item
This is the most common setup mistake.
IMPORTANT — IF YOU TRIED “ADD AIRTAG” FIRST
If you previously selected “Add AirTag” and could not see the tag, the pairing attempt failed because Oscanna tags must be added using “Add Other Item”.
After activation, the tag remains available for pairing for approximately two minutes.
If the tag was not paired within that time, it may enter sleep mode and may no longer appear in Find My.
Before trying again:
-
Reset the tag using the reset instructions supplied with your particular Oscanna model.
-
Wait for the reset or confirmation sound.
-
Immediately begin pairing again using:
Find My → Items → + → Add Other Item
Do not keep searching without resetting the tag first, as a tag in sleep mode may not be detected.
Before You Begin
Make sure:
• Your iPhone or iPad is running iOS or iPadOS 14.5 or later.
• You are signed in to your Apple Account.
• Bluetooth is switched on.
• Location Services are switched on.
• Find My is enabled.
• Your device has a Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection.
• Only one unpaired smart tag is close to your device during setup.
Step 1 — Activate the Smart Tag
Remove the battery pull tab, if fitted.
If your tag has a button, press and hold it until you hear a sound or see the indicator respond.
For rechargeable models, make sure the tag has sufficient charge before starting.
Once activated, begin pairing promptly, as the tag may enter sleep mode after approximately two minutes.
Step 2 — Open Apple Find My
Open the Find My app on your iPhone or iPad.
The Find My app is already included on supported Apple devices. You do not need to download a separate app.
Tap Items at the bottom of the screen.
Tap the + button.
Select Add Other Item.
Do not select Add AirTag.
Step 3 — Connect the Tag
Keep the smart tag close to your iPhone or iPad.
Wait for the tag to appear on screen.
Tap Connect.
Choose a name and emoji for the item.
Tap Continue.
Tap Continue again to register the tag to your Apple Account.
Tap Finish.
Step 4 — Test the Tag
Open Find My and tap Items.
Select your new smart tag.
Tap Play Sound.
Confirm that:
• The tag makes a sound.
• The tag appears in the Items list.
• Its location or last reported location is shown.
Only attach the tag to your keys, bag, luggage or other item after setup has been completed successfully.
Using Your Smart Tag
From the Items section in Find My, you can:
• View the tag’s current or most recently reported location.
• Play a sound when the item is nearby.
• Enable Notify When Left Behind, where available.
• Mark the item as lost.
• Add contact details for someone who finds it.
Troubleshooting
If the tag does not appear:
• Confirm that you selected Add Other Item, not Add AirTag.
• Reset the tag if more than approximately two minutes have passed since activation.
• Move the tag closer to your iPhone or iPad.
• Check that Bluetooth is switched on.
• Check that Location Services are enabled.
• Check that Find My is enabled.
• Make sure your phone has an internet connection.
• Keep other unpaired tags away during setup.
• Restart your iPhone or iPad and try again.
• Replace the battery or recharge the tag if necessary.
If the Tag Was Previously Paired
A tag already linked to another Apple Account must be removed from that account before it can be paired again.
If the tag still will not connect, reset it using the instructions supplied with your Oscanna model or contact Oscanna support.
Important Information
Oscanna Apple Find My-compatible smart tags use Bluetooth and Apple’s Find My network.
They are not live GPS trackers. Location updates depend on nearby Apple devices and may not update continuously.
Final Reminder
Always pair your Oscanna smart tag using:
Find My → Items → + → Add Other Item
Do not choose Add AirTag.
If you already tried Add AirTag and the tag was not found, reset the tag before trying Add Other Item again.
