How to Add an Oscanna Smart Tag to Apple Find My

Open Find My on your iPhone or iPad, tap Items, select the + button and choose Add Other Item. Keep the activated Oscanna tag close to your device, tap Connect when it appears and follow the on-screen steps.

Important: Do not select Add AirTag. Oscanna smart tags work with Apple Find My, but they are not Apple AirTags. Choosing Add AirTag is the most common setup mistake.

Before You Begin

  • Use an iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 14.5 or later.
  • Sign in to your Apple Account.
  • Switch on Bluetooth and Location Services.
  • Make sure Find My is enabled.
  • Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  • Keep only one unpaired smart tag close to the device.

Apple Find My Setup Steps

1. Activate the Smart Tag

Remove the battery pull tab, if fitted. If your tag has a button, press and hold it until you hear a sound or see the indicator respond. Rechargeable models should have sufficient charge before setup. Begin pairing promptly because some models enter sleep mode after approximately two minutes.

2. Open Apple Find My

  1. Open the Find My app.
  2. Tap Items at the bottom.
  3. Tap the + button.
  4. Select Add Other Item — not Add AirTag.

3. Connect the Tag

  1. Keep the tag close to your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Wait for it to appear and tap Connect.
  3. Choose a name and emoji for the item.
  4. Tap Continue and register the tag to your Apple Account.
  5. Tap Finish.

4. Test the Tag

  1. Open Find My and tap Items.
  2. Select the new smart tag.
  3. Tap Play Sound.
  4. Confirm the tag sounds, appears in the Items list and shows its current or last reported location.

If You Selected “Add AirTag” First

The pairing attempt will fail because Oscanna tags must be added using Add Other Item. If more than approximately two minutes have passed, reset the tag using the instructions for your model, wait for the confirmation sound and immediately try again using:

Find My → Items → + → Add Other Item

Using Your Smart Tag

From the Items section in Find My, you can view the current or most recently reported location, play a sound when the item is nearby, enable Notify When Left Behind where available, mark the item as lost and add contact details for someone who finds it.

Troubleshooting

  • Confirm that you selected Add Other Item, not Add AirTag.
  • Reset the tag if the pairing window has expired.
  • Move the tag closer to your iPhone or iPad.
  • Check Bluetooth, Location Services, Find My and the internet connection.
  • Keep other unpaired tags away during setup.
  • Restart the Apple device and try again.
  • Replace the battery or recharge the tag if necessary.

If the Tag Was Previously Paired

A tag linked to another Apple Account must be removed from that account before it can be paired again. Reset it using the instructions supplied with your Oscanna model if required.

Important Information

Oscanna Apple Find My-compatible smart tags use Bluetooth and Apple’s Find My network. They are not live GPS trackers. Location updates depend on nearby Apple devices and may not update continuously.
