Paddocks!
My wife and daughter are both very" Horsey", we saved very hard and managed to buy a small 6 acre paddock right on the edge of the village with the nearest house about 500 yrds away, luckily it came with a 3 small stable block and a hay barn we even had water onsite ! the only think it didn't have was electricity.
After owning this small yard for about 6 months put our horses to bed and went the 5 minute trip home.
The next day we went to the yard and we had had visitors in the night, they had stolen the doors off our stables, various bits of tack and equipment and left the horses distressed running loose in the yard...that was a very expensive night!
Luckily we managed to get help and replace the doors that day( with security bolts now).. but how do we stop it happening again in the middle of nowhere?
Technology has improved rapidly over the past couple of years and now we have a couple of solar powered 4G cameras monitoring our yard 24hrs a day.. we get alerts if there is any movement on the PIR, we got night vision and it even has a built in alarm.If some bright spark tries to steal the camera all the video footage is stored in the cloud fo us two review and give to the police.
Since we installed these camera's. we have had no visitors a great deterrent and peace of mind, we can keep tabs on the horses 24/7.
